Instructor: Coronal Polishing Course for Dental Assistants

 

This consisted of a two-day course. Day one was divided into two sections with half of the day concentrating on lecture in coronal polishing techniques, polishing agents and fluorides. The second half of day one students practiced on typodonts in the lab setting under close supervision. Day two was utilized in the clinic teaching hands on skills for coronal polishing. Procedures were performed on fellow students with guidance from Dental Hygiene faculty. During this time I taught the course twice yearly with a successful pass rate for students.

Dental Hygienist – Full-Time to Part-Time

 

Performed all aspects of clinical dental hygiene. Worked proficiently with Practice Works dental software including digital radiography and complete patient charting. Utilized intra oral photography for patient education and recommending cosmetic dentistry. The practice had a well-developed soft tissue management program, which provided non-surgical periodontal therapy to a wide range of patients

Dental Hygienist – Part-Time

 

This office served a very rural population, therefore I worked closely with patients to educate them and help them obtain dental health. Provided dental hygiene therapy for patients three years of age through adulthood.

           

                                                                             

Sixty Hour Professional Field Experience     September 2000-December2001

During this time, I volunteered at Keystone Dental Clinic in Johnson City, TN. and worked through Regional Public Health researching aspects of Community Dentistry. This also allowed me to develop and present a Dental Hygiene educational program, which I implemented in local classrooms. I also participated in several Health Fairs through the school system.
